Below is the URL link to the following article entitled: Strengthening the nurse - - patient relationship: "what is the most important thing I can do for you today?"

Please read this article and reflect on the following questions. You MUST respond to at least one of the questions for credit. You may respond to all and post any comments you have about this article.
1.Do you agree with the author's inference that Relationship-Based Care is the way that patients/families know that we care? Support your response.
2. How do you think the nurse-patient relationship could be strengthen if we used the same question posed in this article in our current patient population?
3. How could this be implemented in our current transfer of care process?
4. If we were to track patient/families answers to the posed question, do you expect similar themes to that emerged in this article? why or why not? [/list] |

The question or tool which they used in this article is great. I think that is most important question you can ask a patient, which will make them feel that we are caring for them, & their needs.
I Totally support the fact that nothing matters to a patient or family, how muchever you explain what you are going to do for them but what is most important is if we really cared for what their need is at present.Any shift nurse can ask this question , and can communicate to the incoming Nurse if teh needs are met or not. |

I agree Sindhu. I want to propose to leadership how we can incorporate this question to our patient population and keep track of this information through our Kardexes. I am going to suggest this at our next PFAC meeting and challenge everyone in that group to read this article. I think we can replicate some of what they did and do a research project on this. RBC is our delivery healthcare model and I think it would be important for us to know what our patient population believes to me the most important way we can care for them. Would you be interested in participating since you are CITI-certified? |
