Dyess, S., & Sherman, R. (2011). Developing the leadership skills of new graduates to influence practice environments. Nursing Administration Quarterly, 35(4): 313-322.
I really enjoyed this article, please answer the following questions:
1. Looking at the 20 session content on the NNLI program discussed in the article and reflecting on the nurse residency program offered to our new grads here at Children's, do you think it would be more beneficial to have a leadership program such as the one described in this article in place of the nurse residency program? Defend your answer.
2. Based on your reading and experience, write a formal definition of nurse leadership. |

Nursing school will teach you a lot of skills that you need to know after graduation. If you're wanting to be able to take blood, then look at either a medical lab assistant, or a venipuncture course to learn about taking blood, so that you're also able to do that as part of it. Usually with nursing, they require you to keep your skills and training current by taking additional courses and training, so you will be able to learn about other tasks as well.
